Hello Sunday Morning

So since I stopped drinking I have been spending time reading voraciously about drinking, not drinking and all the other brilliant sober books and blogs that exist.  All that drinking time now spent not drinking creates vast amounts of time to fill and only now do I appreciate how much of my time I wasted drinking …..

I stumbled across this brilliant site today and I just love the Antipodean’s and their way of tackling the subject of alcohol.

Hello Sunday Morning is a movement towards a better drinking culture.

Our purpose is to provide a platform for individuals to create meaningful change in their lives by taking a short break from alcohol. By sharing their story, each persons’ stand is a unique and essential contribution to a better drinking culture.

Hello Sunday Morning is a way for any individual to take a break from drinking and recreate the drinking culture around us. Since 2010 nearly 10,000 people have signed up to go 3 months or more without alcohol, and blog about their journey on Hello Sunday Morning.

There seems to be a growing swell of change around alcohol and drinking that I am really proud to be a part of.  If my kids grow up with a healthier understanding and attitude towards alcohol than I did then I will feel that I have succeeded.  I am trying to role model the benefits of not drinking so they do not grow up believing that to drink every day is normal or that alcohol is necessary to complete a celebration or a time of having fun.  And in the process I get to say ‘hello Sunday morning’ and greet it with a smile and a clear head. Day 71.
